The Federation of Medical Women of Canada hosts the Ottawa Collaborative Breakfast on Violence.
In collaboration with the Canadian Medical Association, The Ontario Medical Association, The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, The City of Ottawa's Public Health Offices, the Jewish Family Services of Ottawa, the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada and the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine, Office of Gender and Equity, are hosting a breakfast to commemorate the National Day of Rememberance and Action on Violence Against Women and the anniversay of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Dr. Janet Dollin becomes President of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada
Dr. Janet Dollin, Ottawa Family Physician, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa and former Director of the Office of Gender and Equity at the Faculty of Medicine was sworn in as the new president of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada’s 83rd Annual General Meeting, held Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at the Ottawa Congress Centre.

On Saturday, June 23, 2007, at their awards luncheon during its Annual General Meeting at the Ottawa Congress Centre, the Federation of Medical Women of Canada (FMWC) honoured one of their long time member,
Dr. Jan Christilaw with the May Cohen Leadership Award, sponsored by Duchesnay. At the same ceremony, the FMWC also recognized Dr. Ruth Collins-Nakai, past-president of the CMA with an Honorary Membership in recognition of her outstanding service to medicine and her exceptional leadership as a woman physician.

The FMWC believes that women should have the every Canadian girl and woman should have the option to choose whether or not to protect themselves against HPV diseases like cervical cancer and genital warts.
